Missions at Living Streams

Living Streams is heavily invested in missions both locally and abroad. Ten percent of every dollar that comes in to Living Streams is invested in local and foreign missions. Those funds go to supporting dozens of missionaries and organizations, planting churches, facilitating local outreaches, and so much more. We believe that missions (both local and abroad) are an important part of God’s call for most, if not all believers.

Email missions@livingstreams.org if you have any questions or are interested in being sent out as a long-term missionary by Living Streams.

Missions Internship

Our summer internship has 9 different tracks. The missions track requires interns to be available all day Tuesdays, Thursday mornings, and 7:00am-1:00pm on Sundays for services. The program runs for 12 weeks from the beginning of May through the end of July.

Missions interns will spend 4-8 weeks in Phoenix and the remainder of their internship working in a mission field. Mission fields may include: Local Homeless Outreach (Phoenix), Belize, Ecuador, Peru, SE Asia (anti-trafficking), or Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Travel, food, and lodging expenses may apply.

Email missions@livingstreams.org if you are interested in the Missions track of our summer internship.

Overview: Every month we help the poor in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico. Doctors and nurses triage and treat many people who otherwise might not receive medical attention. Rocky Point Medical Clinics was founded by Living Streams members George and Susie Stravros in 1998, and has grown into a large and fruitful ministry that continues to grow and serve the people of Puerto Peñasco. As this opportunity is ongoing, you will be on your own to coordinate transportation and potentially lodging. Email missions@livingstreams.org for help in coordinating those things or to see if there is anyone available to carpool.

Who can help: Doctors, Nurses, Med Students, or Spanish-English translators. Unfortunately, the only opportunities to serve the medical clinics are for people who fall into one of those categories.

Days are full of activities, games, chapel times, cabin time, and running around in the woods with adventurous kids. It is an incredibly valuable time of ministry that makes a significant life-long impact on the kids.

There is a role for nearly everyone at RFKC. The largest need for volunteers is for “Cousins” or “Aunts/Uncles.” “Cousins” (counselors) will spend nearly all of their time dedicated to loving 1-2 specific campers. “Aunts/Uncles” are support for the Cousins. They spend their time helping out in whatever way necessary and are still able to engage relationally with the campers but to a slightly lesser extent that the Cousins.

There is a mandatory weekend training session that must be completed for both new as well as returning volunteers.

This trip is done in partnership with Scottsdale Bible Church, which administrates the camp. Living Streams attendees can email missions@livingstreams.org for information on how to apply, and to be connected with one another for the purpose of carpooling.

Local Outreach

Part of our Mission at Living Streams is to “Engage in Society’s Pain.” We believe that the Church’s voice grows as we do that. Below are a few ministries we believe are actively engaging in society’s pain here in Phoenix that also provide avenues for you to serve. Click below to expand for more information on how you can engage with these ministries.

  • Click here to express interest in serving with our refugee ministry team

Living Streams congregants serve at GoTEN on a regular basis. There are a number of ways to serve with GoTEN but most volunteers serve for about an hour 1-2 times a week as an English Learning Encourager. English Learning Encouragers sit in a class with one specific refugee and encourage/help them as they learn English with a computer program (Rosetta Stone). The goal here is to make a friendship that extends outside of class while helping someone learn a valuable life skill.

    About GoTEN:

GoTEN is a missions organization that seeks to minister to refugee families who have been legally resettled in Phoenix. GoTEN is an acronym that stands for Go To Every Nation. We can reach other nations by going across the street or across town. God has brought unreached people to us! Visit to learn how you can join us as a volunteer and engage with refugees from Iraq, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and other countries through English classes, sewing classes, or kids’ ministry! The friendships you build can lead to opportunities to share the truth of the Gospel. GoTEN.org

Global Missions

This map shows most of the missionaries that we support on an ongoing basis. Belize, Ecuador and Puerto Peñasco, Mexico are three of the places our missions efforts are most heavily invested. Living Streams also has a goal of sending out 50 long-term missionaries (9 mo+) by the end of 2025. Email missions@livingstreams.org if you’re interested in being one of those missionaries.

To support one of our global missionaries, please use the link and then email finance@livingstreams to share how you would like your gift directed.
